Scottish Success for Local Games Shooter

Team Orkney competitor Bobby Spence is celebrating national success after becoming the new Scottish 10m air rifle champion. He claimed the title at the annual event in Tulliallan at the weekend. It’s Bobby’s first major air rifle championship win, and he took silver in the Open Class being run at the same time. During the competition he also shot in the Scottish Class A section – the highest classification available – and won three bronze medals. Bobby took part in his first NatWest Island Games at the Isle of Wight in 2011, finishing 5th in the 100 Yards Prone Rifle and 6th in the 50m Prone Smallbore Rifle. He’s already looking ahead to the trip to Jersey next year. Bobby is pictured receiving the Scottish Confined Champion Trophy from Shirley McIntosh MBE, a former Scottish Ladies multiple Commonwealth Games medallist.
