Triathlon Makes a Comeback in the County

Orkney Triathlon Club has announced plans for a number of summer events this year. Following on from Orkney’s double medal success at the 2013 NatWest Island Games in Bermuda, it’s hoped the next generation of triathletes will give the sport a go. The timetable for the summer looks like this:

1st June – Stromness Mini Triathlon (400m swim/10k cycle/3k run)

6th July – Stromness Sprint Triathlon (750m swim/20k cycle/5k run)

31st August – Kirkwall Junior Aquathlon (swim and run – varying distances according to age, limited adult places may be available)

6th September – Longhope Mini Triathlon (400m sea swim, 10k cycle, 3k run)

The Club says beginners are welcome to all events and the season’s events are aimed at attracting new faces to the sport, as well as revitalising interest in the county’s current competitors. Team entry options will also be available too. Further details about each event will be available on the Entry Central website, which you can find via the Orkney Triathlon Club’s Facebook page.
