Orkney Volleyball Association was established in Orkney in 1992 and is affiliated with the Scottish Volleyball Association. The Club offers game opportunities for everyone, from beginners through to experienced players. The Pickaquoy Centre is home to the Scholes Winter League which focuses on allowing new players to get an understanding of volleyball and develop their skills through organised games. Over the last three years the Club has introduced ‘The Shield’ competition, offering competitive tournament-court games for existing players. A core part of the Club is senior training which predominately works towards the annual Intercounty fixture against Shetland.

The upcoming season will focus on club development in Orkney, offering ‘Come and Try’ sessions and encouraging new and younger players to get involved. The senior players are currently looking at re-joining the Scottish Cup to increase their competitive game opportunities.

Club members are also in discussions about trying out beach volleyball in Orkney, with the ambition of continuing volleyball all year round and entering into Scottish Volleyball Association beach tournaments.
