The 13th Nat West International Island Games were held in Aland in 2009 from June 27th – July 4th
Orkney’s competitors came home with six medals in total –
In the Archery Compound Head to Head Team Knockout Orkney won Gold
The team was Norah Bowmer – Alan Bowmer – Ian Kennedy – Jim Middlemas – Stewart Stanger
In the Archery FITA Men’s Compound, Stewart Stanger won Bronze
After just missing out on medal in the womens 400m, Mags MacRae made a great recovery to win a Bronze in the 200m with a time of 25.46.
Also in the athletics Claire Wilson won Silver in the Shot Putt with a throw of 11.04.
Meanwhile in the shooting – the Automatic Ball Trap Team – won Bronze. They were Brian Foreman and Magnus Norquoy.
The Shooting Sporting Team of Alan Clouston, Derek Firth, and Brian Foreman also won a Silver medal.
