Orkney could have a football squad at the 2015 NatWest Island Games in Jersey. The county’s local football association discussed the proposal at its recent EGM and agreed, in principle, to send a team to the Games. Members were asked to return to their clubs to gauge the level of interest before reporting back to the Committee. Orkney Amateur Football Association President, Edgar Balfour, said he would be delighted if Orkney had a team at the Games. He said it would be a big financial commitment but if there was an appetite for it from local clubs the OAFA would do what it could to make it happen. Orkney has had football squads at previous games, the last time in Shetland in 2005.
